Souled Out Show!!!!

February 22nd, 2010 | Category: SKG Events

Secret Keeper Girl has hit the big time, this weekend’s event at Raleigh Christian Community sold out WEEKS ago! In fact, tickets were so hard to come by that one desperate mom even posted an ad requesting tickets on Craig’s List! Her plea was answered and Stephanie and her daughter, Samantha, came to this event as our guests- check out our event pictures and you can find them pictured with Janet and me after the show!

Our new hot pink Secret Keeper Girl t-shirts made their debut in Raleigh, as you can see in the pictures they’re TOTALLY CUTE and were a big hit! I think it was the t-shirts that gave our girls the edge they needed to beat the mom’s in the TIE BREAKER round of our flying saucer game.

More importantly we spent an incredible night with God! Mom’s and daughters bonded while they learned about how God is crafting them into beautiful masterpieces. It’s incredible how much love I saw as I watched these mother’s tie friendship bracelets onto their daughter’s wrists and pray that these girls would see themselves as God sees them.

To wrap up this show Janet had the audience scream and clap for Jesus, it was so loud that our friends in the tech booth said it was over 96 dB’s! (in case you wondered, that’s REALLY LOUD!!) So thank you Raleigh, I think, for exercising our ears a bit. This was truly a SOULED out show!!

Dannah Gresh Has Writer’s Block!

February 17th, 2010 | Category: SKG Events

Posted By Dannah Gresh, Creator of Secret Keeper GirlOk, ladies! It’s crunch time. Six Ways To Keep the Little in Your Girl is due March 5th, so it can be ready for you to read by September. I am holed up at home this weekend while the rest of my family goes in various directions. (You’ll find Lexi on stage to lead worship at the SOLD OUT Secret Keeper Girl event in Raleigh, N.C. this Saturday night.) I’m hoping to get through enough good writing hours to earn a two-hour movie break on Friday night, but I need your help. As I work on the chapter about Friendship, I need creative ideas from you. If I use your idea, I’ll also include your name in the book.Just answer these questions as a comment, and …I’ll let my facebook friends know if I earned the movie. (Movie suggestions are also happily suggested.) 1.) How do you insert yourself into your daughter’s friendships? Do you lead Awana? Host an after-school book club? Volunteer at school? 2.) What’s the most creative “friend” event you’ve ever done with your daughter and her friends? 3.) How do you say “no” when your daughter wants to do something or having something that “everyone else” is doing or has?

Superbowl, what superbowl?

While the boys watched football Sunday night, the girls flocked to Christ United Methodist Church in Sugar Land for a night of fun with Secret Keeper Girl. The show started off with a bang as our mom’s showed us a bit about the history of fashion, it’s hard to believe people actually wore those clothes! So of course later in the show the daughters were able to show mom what cute and modest fashion looks like today. With a bit of a smaller group we were able to have some more intimate moments talking about true beauty and really praying for mom’s and daughter’s to be able to win the battle of insecurity. Suzy shared with these girls the reality that as daughter’s of the King they are true princesses! Thanks Sugar Land for such a fantastic night!

SKG visits Saints Territory!

Well I certainly can’t think of a better place to be on the night before the historic Saints superbowl victory than the First Baptist Church of West Monroe, Louisiana. Talk about a sea of black and gold, with all of the Saints shirts and painted faces there was no question who our audience was rooting for. Even SKG team member (and major Saints fan) Suzy Weibel went all out for the New Orleans team! These folks were also dedicated Secret Keeper Girl fans- a group from Calvary Baptist Church in Arkansas (pictured below dressed in red) drove over 6 HOURS to be with us!  With all of the energy in that room it’s no wonder we had a fantastic time singing, chatting, and of course dancing the YMCA.

Matching Up In Nacogdoches!

Y’all (yes, I picked up some vocabulary this week) what a party! Oak Grove Baptist Church has definitely earned the “most matchy matchy” award for our Texas tour. One group arrived accompanied by a flock of feather boas that left colorful decorations for us all over the church, in fact we’re still finding them in our stage decorations! Another mom and daughter told Dannah (via facebook I believe) that they had made their own t-shirts that read “I <3 my secret keeper girl” and “I <3 my secret keeper mom.” Of course we made sure they modeled them for us up on stage! It seems to me as if the whole town has a lot of flare, one of our fashion show girls did an awesome job of making one of this season’s outfit’s her own by wearing her brightly colored headbands “sweatband style,” I LOVED IT! Thanks Nacogdoches for keeping us entertained all night long!

Is That A Guy in An SKG Shirt in Kingwood?

WOW KINGWOOD! You officially rocked my socks off-in fact it’s hard for me to even remember what socks look like! Woodridge Baptist Church was packed with moms and daughters, and even more so packed with excitement, this Thursday night as they discovered what true beauty is all about with our SKG team! What stuck out to me even more than the incredible energy brought on by our raving fans in the audience, were the volunteers that helped put us put on such an incredible show. From before we arrived until after we walked out the doors Miss Linda and her team were ready and willing to preform any task we needed. Some of our volunteers, as you can see in the pictures below, were so dedicated they flowed from one task to another without stopping for breath- such as our model moms who doubled as merchandise saleswomen. Their children’s ministry pastor was dedicated enough to actually put on a Secret Keeper Girl shirt. Now that’s a confident man! You gotta love a guy like that!
